AGL has been influenced e.g. by Franz Fischler and Pavel Kabat. Aspen Ministers Forum, Member Aspen Institute is a U.S.-based political research and education organization. Originally named “Albright’s Dream Team” per its founder Madeleine Albright, the group is comprised of former foreign ministers of various political orientations. The group’s experience and vision are utilized in particular to achieve a constructive transatlantic dialogue. Club de Madrid, Member 2012- The organization is comprised of former chieftains of democratic governments and states. It has approx. 100 members from 65 states. The main task of the organization is to support current political leaders in democratic leadership, and in current and resolved crisis situations. Club of Rome, Member 2014- Club of Rome is an international forum concerning futures studies and sustainable development. Membership consists of former leaders, high-level officials, academics, and business representatives. The headquarters are located in Switzerland. Council of Women World Leaders, Chairperson 2009-2014, Member 2014– Council of Women leaders is a network of current and former woman presidents and prime ministers. It was founded by former presidents Vigdís Finnbogadóttir and Mary Robinson, and Secretary General Laura Liswood in 1996. Earth Day Network, Board of Directors, Member 2016– Earth Day Network was founded in 1970, and it has since coordinated Earth Day-events annually. The Empress Theophano Prize, Member of the Advisory Board 2020– The organization, founded in 2019, appoints a prize annually for a person or an organization which has made an outstanding contribution to bridging Europe’s historic diversities. President Halonen was invited to be a member of the Advisory Board. Group is steered by the former Chairperson of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy. Global Women Leaders Voices (GWL), Member 2023- GWL Voices are global women leaders who have demonstrated a deep commitment to the improvement of conditions for humanity through our contributions in a multilateral environment. The group was founded by the former Foreign Minister of Argentina, Susan Malcorra, former Foreign Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark and former Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Irina Bokova. Harvard Kennedy School, The Arctic Initiative, Member 2020– Arctic Initiative aims to develop cooperation involving science, technology and policy in the Arctic area. InterAction Council, Member Including former heads of state from various countries, the aim of the organisation is international collaboration around the themes of peace and security, regenerating the global economy, and generating global ethical systems. There are over 40 members in the organisation. Nizami Ganjavi International Center, Board Member 2013– NGIC is a cultural, non-political organization dedicated to the memory of an Azerbaijani poet, Nizami Ganjavi. It works with a mission to build a dialogue and understanding between cultures and peoples for building functional and inclusive societies. The center is co-chaired by President Vaira Vike-Freiberga and Ismail Seralgeld (Aleksandria library). Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Member of Leadership Council 2014– SDSN was installed by the UN Secretary General and is led by professor Jeffrey Sachs. The aim of the network is to mobilise researchers, research centres, the civil society and the private sector to find practical solutions for sustainability issues.
