High-Level Advisory Board on Mediation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres had a meeting in Helsinki on 18 June. After an inaugural meeting of the Board in New York last year, this was the Advisory Board’s second encounter, co-organized by Finland and Indonesia.

The Advisory Board deliberates on questions related to peace processes and conflict prevention. On 18 June, after an internal meeting of the Board, a panel discussion was hosted in Smolna, to exchange views about mediation amongst the members of the board and an invited audience. In addition to the members of the Advisory Board and the Secretary-General, President Halonen also met with the President of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajčák, who was visiting Finland.
